ACP EXAM PREP – FALL 2023 AGILE CERTIFIED PRACTIONER (ACP) CERTIFICATION 3 SATURDAY PREP COURSE
Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) is a recent and progressive certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and it “sets the bar” for agile project professionals! The two main hurdles of achieving certification – completing the application to sit for the exam and passing the exam – are rigorous.
This course will help you sail over those hurdles and go to the next level as an Agile professional with solid, real world practices. You can soon be an agile expert in the eyes of organizational leaders and colleagues. The ACP Certification Prep Course dives into Scrum, XP, Lean FDD, Kanban, Crystal, TDD and Agile Modeling.
Key Learning Objectives
- Understand key concepts necessary to pass the PMI-ACP exam
- Understand the PMI-ACP application eligibility requirements
- Learn the terminology for various Agile frameworks and methods
- Walk through key Agile methods and how they contrast with traditional methods
- Learn to read burndown charts and other radiators to determine the health of Agile projects
- Use hands-on exercises to further your understanding of Agile concepts

Instructor Bios
Peter Heaver, PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe (SA) is a consultant offering a background of 15+ years in project management roles, with emphasis in leading teams as Scrum Master, Agile Coach and software engineer. Peter has a keen focus on task automation, system optimization, and tool standardization, and offers a deep knowledge of Agile/Scrum and Lean methodologies.
David Whitlock, PMI-ACP moved to Portland at the turn of the century to hack on the Java Virtual Machine. He enjoyed the challenge of working with complex software systems, but quickly discovered that the complexity of working with people offers an even more exciting challenge. David has been a student of Agile and Lean principles and practices for many years and looks forward to engaging others in conversations to help understand what we know, what matters, and what we do next. By day, he manages a team of software developers and co-facilitates Portland PMI's monthly "Agile PM Roundtable". By night, he is an adjunct lecturer in the Computer Science Department at Portland State University. David likes watching things grow whether they are teams, companies, his students, his family, or the vegetables in his garden.
Sean McNiff, MPA, PMP, PMI-ACP has been a Project Manager, Service Delivery Manager, and Change Manager in the legal tech space for nearly a decade, with extensive experience in IT Infrastructure implementations, and just about every other kind of project you can imagine. He is the current Director of Education for the Portland PMI Chapter, and is very passionate about helping Project Managers achieve their professional development goals.
